Our briefing this week was on “Reporting data on Religion”, where our panel outlined how their data is compiled, the questions they seek to answer and how or why journalists should trust the findings. Our panel was:
- Conrad Hackett, senior demographer and associate director of research at the Pew Research Centre
- Dr Peter Brierley, Brierley consultancy on his compilation of church statistics in Britain
- Professor David Voas, from the Institute for Social and Economic Research, University of Essex; also national programme director in Great Britain for the European Values Study and co-director of the British Religion in Numbers project
