RMC Briefings

Our weekly online briefings offer a unique opportunity to get behind the headlines, with a panel of speakers quizzed by our journalists

Interview with Archbishop of York Stephen Cottrell

The Archbishop of York Stephen Cottrell said that the Church of England will not flourish – unless it faces up to the mistakes of the past while living and sharing the Gospel story.

Speaking about his new book ‘Dear England: Finding Hope, Taking Heart and Changing the World’, he was hopeful that Christian thinking which shaped the welfare state and contributed to the birth of the NHS could once more bring narratives of hope.

Report: Dear England, Build communities: the letter of Archbishop Stephen

“I love the church, and I love the Church of England, but I don’t get up in the morning for the Church of England. “The church is that bunch of men and women who have been impacted by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ”
