Tuesday 29 November: Upcoming Briefing: Impact of Census Results on Religion & Belief

The England and Wales census results for 2021 relating to religious belief will be released in November 2022. Projections have already assumed to see a decline in adherents to Christianity, a rise in the non-religious and insights into belief due to population changes.

Professor Linda Woodhead is the F. D. Maurice professor and head of the department of theology and religious studies at King’s College London, and has written widely on religion in society. You can watch her initial insights in the census from our annual RMC lecture here >>

Dr Lois Lee is Senior Lecturer in the University of Kent department of Religious Studies and principal investigator on the Understanding Unbelief programme. Her current research is on non-theist and non-religious populations. 

Dr Kathryn Wright is the Chief Executive Officer of Culham St Gabriel’s Trust, a charitable organisation committed to providing parents, school governors, faith/belief communities and policy makers of religion and worldviews with the support, connections, challenges and professional development they need.

Dr Jasjit Singh is Associate Professor at University of Leeds in the School of Philosophy, Religion and the History of Science. Hi current research focuses on the religious and cultural lives of South Asians in Britain.

Dr Azim Ahmed is deputy head of Islam UK Centre in Cardiff and assistant secretary general of the Muslim Council of Wales.

The Bishop of Burnley, Philip North, also acting bishop of Blackburn, and among his previous appointments, priest administrator of the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham.

Christopher Jamison, Abbot President of the English Benedictine Congregation, presenter of TV documentaries and contributor to Radio 2 programmes
